Although Golden has a reputation for adrenalin filled outdoor adventures, it also offers a wide variety of recreational activities for the less vertically adventurous.  For young families and those wanting to enjoy winter in Golden at a more relaxed pace, please check out the options below. These are “do it yourself” ideas to help our guests know about the various activities and options for what to do, in and around Golden.  We do have some “packages” which include your lodge and the most popular activities where we coordinate with the activity providers and book everything on your behalf.  For more information on those, please check our Packages Page.

Choose A Lodge At Mount 7 Lodges

Depending on the size of your group, choose one (or more) of our lodges.  From the two bedroom Deer Lodge which is suitable for two to four people, up to our large three bedroom Bear Lodge which can sleep eight people we have a lodge to suit your group.

All lodges are self catering, with fully equipped kitchens, spacious living areas, and your own private hot tub to ensure you can relax in comfort.

Once you have chosen your lodge and know how many days you’re staying in Golden, you can choose from one or more of the following activities.  Be warned that once you start considering how many great activities are on offer, you may want to extend your stay!!

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing is a great way to experience the trails in the wintertime.  Embark on a self-guided adventure on one of the many designated areas in and around Golden, BC and Kicking Horse Country.

Golden Nordic Center, at the base of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, has a dedicated snowshoe trail and there are various trails in and around the resort.  The Golden mountain bike trail networks also offers some great snowshoeing options.

 

Walk With The Wolves

Walk With The Wolves

Open all year, The Northern Lights Wildlife Centre is perfect for a family day trip. Enjoy the friendly interpretive presentation about wolves and their importance as predators in our environment.

For those that are keen, the centre also offers the chance to go for a hike with a few members of their wolf pack. Min age 16 yrs. Pre-booking required.

Town Of Golden

Town Of Golden

Take the short drive into Golden for some relaxation.  With numerous coffee shops and a great bookstore, you can while away several hours downtown. The Golden Museum gives you a glimpse of the area’s past. There is a range of interesting shops where local artisans offer a wide range of unique products including pottery, wood carvings, photographs and artwork.

The Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge is a timberframe bridge worth a visit and you can check out the Golden Events Calendar for what’s on. If you time it right you can head to the Golden Arena to cheer on the local Golden Rockets KIJHL hockey team.

Mount 7 Lodges Activities

Mount 7 Lodges Activities

Mount 7 Lodges have a number of snowshoe trails offering enjoyment for all the family. We also have a couple of gentle slopes where you can play on toboggans or try skiing or snowboarding for the very first time.

Bear Lodge and Red Fox Lodge both have firepits just outside the lodge.  Grab some (free) firewood from the office and sit back, take in the view and cook up some s’mores!

Need to relax and ease those tired muscles after a day out?  Jump in your hot tub on the private deck of your lodge and take in the views from Mount 7 Lodges.
