Guided Trips & Interpretive Tours

Golden has such a wide range of options that many people want a guide to show them the best spots and tell them about the area. For those people looking for a cultural experience or wanting to take in some of the breathtaking scenery in the area, hiring a guide can ensure that you make the most of your stay in Golden. Local tour guides are also one of the best ways to increase your chances of seeing local wildlife.

Sightseeing

Sightseeing

Located in the heart of Kicking Horse Country, we are flanked to the west by the Purcell Mountain Range and to the East by the Canadian Rockies.

We are surrounded by six national mountain parks – Banff, Jasper, Yoho, Kootenay, Glacier and Mount Revelstoke.

Visit one of the many national parks and enjoy the stunning scenery at Emerald Lake, Wapta or Takakkaw Falls, take a guided hike or visit the fossils of the renowned Burgess Shale.

Wildlife Centres

Wildlife Centres

Sightings of bears, deer, elk, moose, long horn sheep and coyotes are common in the area. A quiet evening or early morning on the deck of your lodge may offer you a chance to see some of the local wildlife (our personal favourites being golden eagles, mule deer and black bears).

Bear sightings are more common in spring and fall and we can recommend good spots for likely sightings. For more guaranteed wildlife, you can take a buffalo ranch tour, visit the local wolf centre or the grizzly bear refuge at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.

Town Of Golden

Town Of Golden

Open during the Summer months, the Golden Visitor Centre offers a wealth of information for family friendly activities in the area. Golden Museum gives you a glimpse of the area’s past. For those on a retail trip, there are a range of interesting shops and local artisans offering a wide range of unique products including pottery, wood carvings, photographs and artwork.

The Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge is a timberframe bridge worth a visit and if you’re a music lover, check out “Summer Kicks” for the evening concerts held most weeks throughout the summer. On a hot summer’s day head into town to enjoy the local swimming pool or spray park or try out the new 18 hole “mini putt” at Golden Golf Course.

For those keen to expend some energy we have a beautiful hiking trail that starts next to the lodges. There are many lookout spots along the trail and once you reach the top, you are rewarded with breathtaking views of the entire valley.
