These are “do it yourself” ideas to help our guests know about the various activities and options for what to do, in and around Golden. We do have some “packages” which include your lodge and the most popular activities where we coordinate with the activity providers and book everything on your behalf. Depending on the size of your group, choose one (or more) of our lodges. From the two bedroom Deer Lodge which is suitable for two to four people, up to our large four bedroom Eagle Lodge which can sleep eight people we have a lodge to suit your group.
All lodges are self catering, with fully equipped kitchens, spacious living areas, and your own private hot tub to ensure you can relax in comfort.
Once you have chosen your lodge and know how many days you’re staying in Golden, you can choose from one or more of the following activities. Be warned that once you start considering how many great activities are on offer, you may want to extend your stay!!
Guided Trips & Interpretive Tours
Golden has such a wide range of options that many people want a guide to show them the best spots and tell them about the area. For those people looking for a cultural experience or wanting to take in some of the breathtaking scenery in the area, hiring a guide can ensure that you make the most of your stay in Golden. Local tour guides are also one of the best ways to increase your chances of seeing local wildlife.
Located in the heart of Kicking Horse Country, we are flanked to the west by the Purcell Mountain Range and to the East by the Canadian Rockies.
We are surrounded by six national mountain parks – Banff, Jasper, Yoho, Kootenay, Glacier and Mount Revelstoke.
Visit one of the many national parks and enjoy the stunning scenery at Emerald Lake, Wapta or Takakkaw Falls, take a guided hike or visit the fossils of the renowned Burgess Shale.
Sightings of bears, deer, elk, moose, long horn sheep and coyotes are common in the area. A quiet evening or early morning on the deck of your lodge may offer you a chance to see some of the local wildlife (our personal favourites being golden eagles, mule deer and black bears).
Bear sightings are more common in spring and fall and we can recommend good spots for likely sightings. For more guaranteed wildlife, you can take a buffalo ranch tour, visit the local wolf centre or the grizzly bear refuge at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.
Town Of Golden
Open during the Summer months, the Golden Visitor Centre offers a wealth of information for family friendly activities in the area. Golden Museum gives you a glimpse of the area’s past. For those on a retail trip, there are a range of interesting shops and local artisans offering a wide range of unique products including pottery, wood carvings, photographs and artwork.
The Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge is a timberframe bridge worth a visit and if you’re a music lover, check out “Summer Kicks” for the evening concerts held most weeks throughout the summer. On a hot summer’s day head into town to enjoy the local swimming pool or spray park or try out the new 18 hole “mini putt” at Golden Golf Course.
Mount 7 Lodges Activities
You don’t have to jump in the car to experience some of the best that Golden has to offer. On those days where you want to take a break from organized activities, or want to kick back and relax, there are a wide range of options for enjoying a day in and around Mount 7 Lodges.
For those keen to expend some energy we have a beautiful hiking trail that starts next to the lodges. There are many lookout spots along the trail and once you reach the top, you are rewarded with breathtaking views of the entire valley.
We have a number of indoor and outdoor games for all guests to enjoy: croquet, board games, playing cards, balls and frisbee.
Or choose to relax in the hot tub on your private deck and take in the stunning views of the Columbia Valley.
